Don’t show up to a demon fight without your Grace…
Before joining the Bookburners, Margaret Dunlap wrote for ABC Family’s cult-hit The Middleman in addition to working on SyFy’s Eureka. Most recently, she was a writer and co-executive producer of the Emmy-winning transmedia series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and co-created its sequel Welcome to Sanditon. Her short fiction has previously appeared in Shimmer Magazine. Margaret lives in Los Angeles where she taunts the rest of the team with local weather reports and waits for the earthquake that will finally turn Burbank into oceanfront property. She tweets as @spyscribe.

“Fair Weather” opens on a lost Sal, adrift in the labyrinthian Vatican. She may know the South Bronx like the back of her hand but the endless marble corridors of His Holiness’ home take some learning. Just as she resigns herself to do that most dreaded thing – actually asking for directions – she is saved by Sexy Spec Ops Man!
Episode two opens with Sal, metaphorical backpack and soup canister in hand, arriving for her first day at work – in Rome. #SceneChange #DemonHuntingGlobeTrotters #AllRoadsLeadToRome #YesIAmAwareHashtagsDon’tWorkLikeThis
Welcome to the Bookburners reread! Every week your stalwart guide will be rereading an episode of the exciting urban fantasy serial by Max Gladstone, Margaret Dunlap, Mur Lafferty and Brian Francis Slattery.
Serial Box is so proud of all of the fantastic fiction we published in our inaugural year! Should anyone be inclined towards award nominations, here is a complete list of our eligible items.
June, 2016 will find our favorite detective-turned-magic hunter ready to take on demons, angels, and maybe even her lingering feelings for a certain teammate.
Sal may be back from the dead, but she's still possessed and could lose control of her mind at any time. Menchú is getting defrocked. Asanti was kicked out of the Archives. Liam is a bit tetchy over the team thinking that he betrayed Sal to Team Two. Grace doesn't have access to her candle. And then Aaron shows up.
When we wanted to see just what Sal, Asanti, and the whole Bookburnersteam might look like, we turned to Hong Kong born illustrator and comic book artist Yasmin Liang to work her magic.
Sal and the Bookburners may be on hiatus this week but the writers behind our demon-hunting serial are here chatting about Serial Box, collaborative fiction, and magic, oh my!
Episode 9? Already? How did that happen? Once again, I get the honor of kicking off a new phase of episodes, as "Ancient Wonders" represents the first episode of the second half of the season.
After being sent on a wild goose chase in the latest game of cat and mouse with the mysterious Mr. Norse, the team decides they need to get ahead of their competition in the hunt for the Codex Umbra.
Internally, the writers divide up this season of Bookburners into four phases. Each phase is four episodes long, and every writer writes one episode per phase.
